In PROXY_TO_PTHREAD mode, when the proxied main thread exists in maybeExit it should bring down the whole program

Description
When `maybeExit` run on pthread it just causes the current thread to exit. But in PROXY_TO_PTHREAD mode we really want this to be as if the main thread exited and bring down the whole program.
