HDMI sound reverts to laptop's speakers when the lid is closed

When I plug my laptop to my TV via HDMI, everything works fine until I close its lid. Then, the image still works but the sound output is instantly changed to the laptop speakers.

Trying to revert back to HDMI sound output as default and then closing it again doesn't fix the problem, as it happens again, neither any of the energy/closed lid behavior or screen settings fix this.
