display settings fail with multiple monitors

I am running a triple monitor setup, and running into serious trouble with the display configuration. Testing was done in the live version from USB.

1. In general, "Apply" does nothing. Then, on random occasions, it does something. Also, it does something after clicking "Detect Displays". But since this button resets all displays into the current position, it only ends up applying the current configuration again.

2. The entire drag-and-drop interface feels very clunky; screens do not snap into position, sometimes this will result in overlap of screens or horizontal / vertical offset to each other.

3. "Restore previous" does not actually restore previous settings, at least not when switching from triple-screen to "Mirror Display".

4. When switching back from mirror display, the screens get randomly scrambled.

5. In one instance, though not generally, turning "Mirror Display" off resulted in a crash. But "Report a Problem" fails with:

In a nutshell, the display settings are completely broken. While in 0.3.2 The UI is just as clunky, and offsets occur just as well, at least applying the settings, and restoring previous settings worked there.
