User switching sometimes does not work

### What Happened?

User switching sometimes does not work

I share the PC with my wife. Most of the time, we are both logged in at the same time.
We are used to quickly switching users in Ubuntu.
In elementary OS 8.0.1, however, this often does not work!
When I click on the other user, nothing happens.

Visible in the screenshot: the other user is not highlighted in color due to the error.

As a workaround, I have to lock the screen. (this takes much longer time)

This does not always happen. But it mainly happens to me, not my wife.
Tested: It is independent of X11 or Wayland sessions. We use X11.

If I log out and log back in, it works again for the time being.

### Steps to Reproduce

Log in with two user accounts and work in one for a while. (email, Browser, Libreoffice....)
Then try switching users. -> sometimes nothing happens

### Expected Behavior

Switching users should always work!
