Frequent terminat/wait message on large amount items

### What Happened?

I thought there was an issue long outstanding but seems I cannot find it. If I'm mistaken then plase delete this report.

When I want to browse inside a folder with 10.000+ files, the files apps hangs and shows me the wait or terminate message when I leave it in the background. This happens a lot of times.

### Steps to Reproduce

Open files and browse a folder (on USB 3 drive or local SSD) and frequently terminate/wait message are displayed. After clicking wait a few times the folder contents eventually shows (after reading has long completed, I thinks it's the sorting mechanisme).
This also occurs for me on an non SSD drive on USB 3 and even not opening the folder but just the fist mount attempt.

### Expected Behavior

Like other filemanagers (I tested several like pcmanfm from apt) just display the contents after a while (maybe show something of a progress bar?) without wait/terminate messages
