Display name changes mark a room as unread (green dot)

### Steps to reproduce

Whenever a display name changes or a user joins a room (unencrypted?), the room appears unread (green dot) in the room list.

- read a room, so that it is new marked unread
- go away for a while
- observe green dotted rooms and check them out
in many cases all that happpened was a display name change or a joined user.

Not sure if this is an EXA, Rust SDK or Synapse issue, tbh.
