Local echos don't appear in the room list/the room doesn't move to the top

Note: this is probably an SDK issue, but opening here because I didn't see one already

### Steps to reproduce

1. Send a message with either to network, or very bad/slow networking like poor mobile reception, or roaming.
2. Navigate back to the room list and observe that the just-sent message doesn't appear, and the room isn't at/near the top of the list.
3. When a sync finally occurs, the room jumps to the top of the list and the message shows

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?
The local echo appears as the most recent message in the room in the room list

#### What happened instead?
It didn't, like it wasn't ever sent
