Description

Hi,

I don't know if this in a element client or synapse server issue TBH, but I write it now here because I see it in the element client. Some time / versions now (currently running 1.12.20) the user status icon does not update accordingly to the user status. Users who are offline are shown as online or absent, other are online but are displayed as offline. As soon as the potentially offline user writes something the status immediately changes to online.

It concerns multiple users on our homeserver (synapse is currently on v1.153.0). A restart of the client or the server does not change anything.

The issue is most clearly shown at the difference to the element web client. My local element client is open (installed on Linux Mint via Debian Repository) and in a Browser I open the Element Web Client as well. The latter shows the correct user states, the desktop client does not.

Do you have any idea?

Best regards
Daniel
