Disabling 'Automatically adjust the microphone volume' does not disable microphone volume adjustment on Linux Mint

### Steps to reproduce

Apologies, mistakenly closed previous issue I had created for this.

1. Where are you starting? What can you see?
Using Element Desktop on Linux Mint. Have a headset with a microphone plugged in, and all appears normal.

2. What do you click?
Started a call with another element user. Noticed immediately that both our input volumes are perpetually dropping, to the point that I could no longer hear the other user.

3. More steps…
Attempted to troubleshoot. Disabled 'Automatically adjust the microphone volume' in Voice and Video settings and noticed that the input volume continued dropping as we spoke. This only happens when Element is both in the foreground on my computer, and is the active window.

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?
I expect that disabling the 'Automatically adjust the microphone volume' should prevent Element from altering my microphone input volume. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and restarted both Element and my computer, but the issue persisted.
#### What happened instead?
Instead the input volume kept decreasing as I spoke. This issue has only ever happened with Element, and is not an issue inherent to Mint or my computer.
