matrix.to links make Ele Desktop blank out/reset

### Description

I clicked on a matrix.to link. Ele Desktop came to the foreground but went completely blank. Then the UI resumed but the experience was that of just opening the client after having it shut down. Not an initial sync, just catching up. This happens about 40% of the time of clicking on a matrix.to link.

### Steps to reproduce

- Open matrix.to link and go through the flow
- If it doesn't cause Ele Desktop to blank, go back to the browser, click the Change link (under the buttons in the screenshot), select Ele Desktop again and do it again


Describe how what happens differs from what you expected.

I don't expect my client to blank/reset. I expect it to jump to the convo in the room (I'm already in that room).
