Description

### Your use case

#### What would you like to do?

I would love to be able to get rid of this:

#### Why would you like to do it?

Clicking it reveals yet another search box, but this time it's in the center of the window in a modal pop-under. It makes absolutely no sense why it would be a huge UI element on top of your list like that.

Recovering some much-needed vertical screen estate would be nice as it's all space that could be displaying more of my list instead of non-functional clutter that I'm surprised has lingered this long in the client. Would make Element Desktop look so much cleaner and appealing!

#### How would you like to achieve it?

Put the magnifying glass icon and nothing else but that next to the `+` atop the list view.

### Have you considered any alternatives?

Element Desktop is king for Matrix protocol as far as I'm concerned.

### Additional context

Love Element Desktop. Keep up the great work! :- )
