Stuck: You have unread notifications in a prior version of this room

### Steps to reproduce

1. Log in to my matrix.org account on app.element.io
2. Click a room with a red notification badge in the sidebar
3. Click the banner that says in red text, "You have 2 unread notifications in a prior version of this room."

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?

I expected to be taken to the messages (or other events) that generated those unread notifications, and to have a way to clear them.

#### What happened instead?

I was taken somewhere else. I don't know exactly where, because although the URL in the browser's address bar didn't change, the list of room members did change ("people" in the top right corner). At this new mystery location, I did not see any highlighted messages, nor anything apparently addressed to me. The unread notification badge in the sidebar did not change; they appear to be stuck.
