Missing latest messages & message dissappears after sending

### Steps to reproduce

1. Open Element
2. Open a room
3. Notice that some messages haven't rendered, despite being sent from another device. The timeline seems to be a bit behind.
4. Send a message
5. Notice that the message disappears immediately after sending.

#### What did you expect?

- Messages to appear in the timeline

#### What happened instead?

- Messages did not appear in the timeline
