Room remains unread after reading

### Steps to reproduce

1. Have a room open
2. Receive a new message in the room
3. See it below the "new" line
4. Make sure the window is focused, navigate away from the room, navigate back to the room
5. Continue seeing an unread count in the left panel and latest message marked as new in the timeline

I have definitely seen this in DMs, not sure about group chats. This may be related to the other person in the DM editing a message.

If the window is focused and I see the message, it gets marked as read

#### What happened instead?
Message remains unread until I scroll up and down in the timeline
