Stuck unread dot on v1.11.38

### Steps to reproduce

- Go to room that appears to have unread messages
- See the dot very briefly (fraction of a second) disappear, then reappear
- Further switching between rooms, or rightclick > mark as read do nothing

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?

Unread status must be cleared when reading messages, and especially when explicitly marking as read.

#### What happened instead?

Nothing.
