Description

### Steps to reproduce

1. Where are you starting? What can you see?
-I hit Ctrl+K or click on the Search button to open the search modal
2. What do you click?
-I clear my recent searches and then search for a room/user/space
3. More steps…
-I join the room/DM/space and quickly open the search modal again
-The thing I've joined doesn't appear in my Recent searches
-If I wait a bit or close the search modal and open it again, the thing shows up in my Recent searches

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?
Recent searches to update immediately.
#### What happened instead?
There's a certain delay between opening something I've searched for and it appearing in my Recent searches.

@t3chguy says it's likely a case of having to wait for the server to echo the recent search being persisted
