Timeline loses place when clicking link to a message

### Steps to reproduce

1. In your backlog in room 1, see a matrix.to link to a message (which is in a private room I'm not a member of)
2. Click the link (join room 2)
3. Go back to room 1 and see that timeline has now jumped to newest messages and I've lost my place

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?
Timeline remembers my place as it would do when navigating using the left panel between two rooms

#### What happened instead?
Timeline lost my place and jumped to newest messages
