Description
### Steps to reproduce
1. Start a DM with someone who isn't going to join the room right away
2. Send them a message
3. Close the browser tab
4. Some time later open Element again
5. See this message:
6. Click on the DM in the left panel (ether breadcrumb or DM list), see this infinispinner:
Clearing cache resolved the issue (the infinispinner stayed up for a long time).

I don't get kicked from the room after I create it

I can't join that DM
