User search does not show results from homeserver

not showing results that are coming back from the server

### Steps to reproduce

I can reproduce only with one server which makes no sense because this seems like a client issue. Maybe the users are all in the same room or some other special scenario I only have with that server...

github does not support this - I have logs from a self built client (develop) but I could also reproduce on develop.element.io
