Rejoining a deserted room can lead to a loop

I and X, on different servers, had a room in which we talked. Then, when we verified each other, another room was made for that purpose. After verification we both left that superfluous room. Now, when we try to open a direct channel, it seems the system tries to reopen that room, which fails for lack of servers.
This throws us into a loop, because after failure we are brought back to 'This room cannot be previewed - do you want to join?'. Clicking on another room in the list to the left breaks out of this loop.
