- Launch Element.io in mac os
- Click 'continue with github'
- A login page pops up in Chrome
- Login, click 'continue'
Outcome
What did you expect?
Element.io should be logged in.
What happened instead?
Nothing.
By inspecting the chrome console, I find "Failed to launch 'element://vector/webapp/?element-desktop-ssoid=....&loginToken=....#/' because the scheme does not have a registered handler."
Operating system
macOS
Application version
There's no "Settings" or "Help & About" before logging in, so I can't tell the version.
How did you install the app?
nix-darwin, package "element-desktop"
Homeserver
No response
Will you send logs?
No

Research direction
Reproduce the GitHub sign-in flow on macOS using the nix-darwin element-desktop package, then investigate how the element:// scheme handler is registered. Done means the browser callback returns to Element and completes login instead of reporting that the scheme has no registered handler.
