Description

Your use case
What would you like to do?

I would like the ability to see members actively joined into voice calls without actively joining the call.

Why would you like to do it?

Right now, it is not possible to see who is actively in a call. It would be nice to be able to see at a glance which of my friends are in a call or how active a call in a public room is.

How would you like to achieve it?

At least on video rooms within spaces, show a list of active users in a call below the room in the room list, preferably with minimal status indications (e.g. is the user muted), as seen in Discord and as is being implemented in Cinny.
It would also make it more immediately obvious and visible which rooms have active calls, instead of just a small icon.

Have you considered any alternatives?

The only alternative is to join the call or use another client.

Additional context

I am unsure if this has been requested before, but I have not found a similar feature request.
It is also possible that I missed a way to do as requested, but if that is the case I feel such feature should be made more visible.

Correction: There is a small indicator of how many people are in the call if you select the room, but this doesn't give much information and requires manually checking it instead of glancing

Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing room-list call indicator and the selected-room participant count described in the issue. Compare that behavior with the requested room-list member display and muted-status indicators; done means users can see active call members and call activity without joining the call.
