Large number of messages missing from room

### Steps to reproduce

1. Attempt to view room !GjXfrlJIsOsHZmoLLt:matrix.tellowkrinkle.com
2. View the same room with app.element.io on a desktop
3. Compare the messages

### Outcome

#### What did you expect?
The same messages display on both. If the client failed to fetch some messages for whatever reason, it should display something to indicate that (and maybe a button to retry).

#### What happened instead?
At some point the messages on the iOS client just jump to yesterday (昨日), where on the PC client there's still plenty of messages before then (it looks like about 90 messages got skipped). The iOS client shows no indication that there are messages missing.
