No notification content when FaceID lock is enabled

Running my own Matrix/synapse instance and have a few users registered. When I receive a new message the iOS notification simply says "New Message". No idea who sent it or what it contains.

Encryption is enabled but I presume the app can decrypt that locally before showing the notification.

How can I display message content in the notification?

EDIT: Notification content is included if FaceID lock is disabled. Perhaps this is the intended behavior? If so the settings descriptions should be updated to reflect this.

Reproduce the notification behavior with FaceID lock enabled and disabled, then inspect the notification and lock-related settings descriptions. Determine whether hiding content is intended; done means the behavior is clarified and the relevant settings descriptions accurately describe it.
