the timeline doesn't update when you place & hangup calls

we now have beautiful call tiles - hooray! but when you place a call to someone and then hang up, there seems to be a race in updating the timeline: either the call entry is entirely missing until you bg & fg the room, or it shows stale info (e.g. says you are still in the call, even though you hung up the call)
