Share Extension: Doesn't work in certain circumstances

I am having some weird problems with the share extension.

I can't share a photo from my photo library to any encrypted room. First it was just failing silently with no error message and then after a few tries it started showing this message:


I also can't get it to share certain sizes to unencrypted rooms. Small and actual size work but medium and large just fail silently.

Start by reproducing the share-extension failures on iOS 12 with the reported Riot version: share a photo to encrypted and unencrypted rooms using small, actual, medium, and large sizes. Trace the share extension from the photo-library share action; done means encrypted-room sharing works and all reported image sizes either succeed or show a clear error.
