Message contents not rendered, "issue when rendering content of event with id '$...'"

Was also reported here, but the issue got closed, why? It still persists...

1. Where are you starting? What can you see?

I open element android. I see my chat rooms.

2. What do you click?

I tap on a chat room. And my chat UI is littered with message contents not showing up. Instead, element says "Element encountered an issue when rendering content of event with id '$...'"

#### What did you expect?

I expected to see the contents of the messages I sent in the past, I received in the past, and send/receive in the present.
