Permalinked message with element: scheme as provided by matrix.to leads to "Your matrix.to link was malformed" error

### Steps to reproduce

Short story: Open a permalink to an article that's displayed in the browser.

Long story:

- Post an article to a (publicly readable, if that matters) Matrix group
- Obtain a permalink to that article
- Embed that permalink in a web site
- Open that web site in a browser
- Open the permalink
- At the matrix.to UI, choose to open with Element if not already pre-chosen.
- Activate the link behind "open it here" in the sentence "If you already have Element installed, you can open it here."
- At the pop up whether to open the `element://room/!.....` link, activate the open option.
- At the pop up which app to use, select "open with Element".

Several other people also have this problem, so I think it is readily reproducible, so I speculate a log is not needed. Should that be wrong, please tell me.

Element is opened at that article.

#### What happened instead?

An error pop-up appears about the matrix.to link to be misformed.
