Changes in preferences not saved

### Steps to reproduce

1. Log into your account on matrix.org
2. verify log in
3. go to settings/preferences
4. change some options from disabled to enabled
For example:
Show message bubbles and show rooms with explicit content are set to enabled
5. Log out
6. reconnect to your account on matrix.org
7. go to settings/preferences
8. see screenshot

The before changed 2 options are disabled again

User selections in preferences are saved on the device or server or both!

#### What happened instead?
On reconnect the selections are disabled as before
