Stalls / hangs / freezes when trying to exit app and go to home page

### Steps to reproduce

1. I am starting literally anywhere in the app, *or in other apps that I have switched to after opening Element*.
2. I click the home button.
3. Sometimes it goes directly to the home screen of my launcher. Most of the time it stalls for a few seconds, then the screen goes black for anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes, then it goes to the home screen.

When this happens, the phone is not completely frozen. The settings pull down still works, as does the app switcher. But even if I switch to another app (after leaving Element running or ending it via the app switcher), the phone still freezes up when I try to go to the home screen / main launcher screen.

This seemed to happen a little bit with Element 1.2.2, but only for a few seconds at most. Never for more time than that. Now, with 1.3.1 and 1.3.3, it can stall for minutes at a time.

A little bit about my setup: I am running LineageOS 17.1, and KISS Launcher 3.16.4.

#### What did you expect?

The app to promptly close and the home screen to appear.

#### What happened instead?

The home screen did not appear, and I got to stare at a black screen for several seconds or minutes depending on my luck.
