App becomes unresponsive and crashes when switching between chats

#### Describe the bug
Element Android gets laggy and crashes frequently when trying to switch the view between chats.

#### To Reproduce
1. Open the Element Android app
2. Switch around different chats for a short while
Unfortunately, this seems to be somewhat specific to something with my exact user account (I couldn't yet reproduce this behaviour with a freshly created account). I'm fully open to do more tests/send logs on request.

#### Expected behavior
The app should run smoothly and not crash.

#### Smartphone (please complete the following information):
- Smartphone Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (a5y17lte)
- OS: Android, LineageOS (/e/ OS 0.16-20210423112062)

#### Additional context
- App version 1.1.9, F-Droid Store
- Homeserver: matrix.org

This problem started to occur a few weeks ago. I've attached the adb logcat output of a typical crash.
