Cannot login even though I can with web and MacOS app

I have two sessions open: on in MacOSX Element app and one in web browser Element app. I reset my pw and re logged in to both and imported session message keys into both successfully. Then I downloaded the Element Android app. But I cannot login using the Android app (matrix.org) using email or username. I have never used the Android app b4.

**To Reproduce**
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
1. Open android app
2. Select a server: matrix.org
3. Click Sign In
4. Enter username and pw or email and pw

Exclamation mark icon displays next to username/email field and message is 'invalid username and/or password'

**Expected behavior**
Get logged in.
