**What the feature is and who it's for**
Elastic Cloud Serverless Data Recovery is a user-facing feature for rolling back regretted changes (index deletions, erroneous document updates and similar) in your project. You can choose a recovery point by date and time, then recover selectively by index or data stream. There are no snapshot APIs or repository names to manage, just a data recovery section in the Cloud UI and a simple recovery API. The feature is for teams running production search, observability, or security workloads on Serverless who need reliable recovery from mistakes.
**Value proposition, for the user**
You get a simple data protection capability that you can trust to meet your project’s recovery needs - without dealing with low-level snapshot or repository configuration. You can see available recovery points, assess recoverability over time, choose which recovery point to use (perhaps before the accidental delete or bad application software deployment), which indices and data streams to recover, and whether to recover them to new names or in-place (e.g. before an accidental delete or bad deploy).
