Description

**What do you want to see?**
Something akin to mounts, but different. Not sure how exactly they will be defined. Perhaps they will replace mounts, or maybe be parallel to them.

But remember Star Ruler's scalable components? Well, something like that too. But not quite that either.

Basically, we'd be defining a set of sliders, dropdowns, checkboxes, etc (let's call them "widgets") that can be used with a component, facility, hull, or some other game object. Each widget will have a parameter that it controls, which feeds into the abilities and other stats of the component, similarly to a mount. But unlike mounts, each will have a user editable parameter. (Or maybe several?) Whether that be a number in a slider or a string in a dropdown or a boolean in a checkbox or whatever.

The parameters will have options (min/max for a slider, selectable options for a dropdown, on/off for a checkbox) that can be based on things like your empire's tech level or racial traits; they will be defined by formulas. So maybe you can increase the size of your weapons by 20% for each level of Megascalar Construction tech, or something - and that will in turn affects their cost, damage, etc.

Since components (and facilities, etc) will now be so heavily customizable, it would make sense for players to be able to save off their custom tweaked tech in their library, and even give it custom names! 😁

Suggested by hyunahri on discord. He's doing something like this in his game, if I'm not mistaken.

**How would it help players?**
Allow for a lot more customization of ships, planets, etc. and naming of custom components.

**Alternatives**
???

**Screenshots and mockups**
See hyunahri's game and Star Ruler?

**Things to consider**
???
