Description

I noticed pycdr2 hasn't been updated in two years - should I use cyclonedds.idl for new projects or is an updated standalone library possible?

when I try to pip install cyclonedds it fails because it can't find the native cyclonedds installation, which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid installing.

Thanks.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the pycdr2 project and the cyclonedds.idl package references mentioned in the issue, then reproduce the pip install cyclonedds failure without a native CycloneDDS installation. Done means documenting the standalone library's support status and determining whether an updated standalone installation path is feasible.
