Active Screen share does not hide

I downloaded this app in order to hide the "active screen sharing" icon (purple screen plus a human icon) because it shows when I am using the dock I have purchased with my laptop. The intended behavior of hiding this icon does not function correctly. I am able to move the icon into the correct position, but neither the "always hidden" nor the "sometimes hidden" sections have any effect on the display of this icon.
