App deleted all data in storage folder

Description
I set my phone's "Download/Reading" folder (with files and multiple folders in it) as storage, gave permission to write there, tried to download file (unsuccessfully, 0b of 0b were downloaded), then I found out that my whole directory "Reading" is now empty.
