Changes in RN module not detected

Description
I'd made some changes to the react-native-proximity module (changed an import) and tried to generate a patch file. However no changes are detected, while these are really there.
I've tried it both in windows and linux environment without success.
I've also tried including the .java file explicit, but no effect.
patch-package v6.2.0
anyone an idea what could do the trick?
