Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue with the “Sample: Acquire .NET Runtime” or “Sample: Acquire ASPNET Runtime” command, then run “Sample: Force update of .NET runtime” and open “.NET Install Tool: Uninstall .NET.” Trace how the uninstall list is populated after older runtimes are removed. Done means the list contains only currently installed runtimes, including after restarting VS Code.
