Description
Hey all,
Believe it or not my move from Seattle to Chicago has just now (5 months in) reached the climax. The short of it is that I'm still moving technically because I haven't moved my stuff from storage to my place in Chicago because for the next couple of weeks I'm having it renovated with fresh paint and new floors. But aside from that I've had tons of time with family and have elected to **take the rest of the year off** to just do what I love.
Fortunately, one thing I love a lot is VB so I'm going to be spending more time here and I thought it would be helpful to have a heads-up on what kind of things I'm planning to work on and when. Since I still don't have my big development machine back I'm a bit limited to what my laptop can handle so I'm going to start out small at first and work my way up to bigger stuff.
First, @KathleenDollard had at one point suggested that I could be of service mentoring others here in getting familiar with the space.
* To that end I'm going to finally kick out part-2 of my Roslyn primer on the VB compiler.
* I also intend to start reviewing prototypes from community members more aggressively, starting with some low-hanging fruit from @AdamSpeight2008, and just generally engaging on new issues more regularly.
* I've been meaning for a while to write down a mid-level review of semantic differences between VB & C#
And on the language feature front I'd really like to progress on:
* The scenario of issues #31 and #283. The community has been asking for something here for a while and it's pretty low hanging fruit from my perspective.
I have other things in mind (some big, some small) after that but don't want to over-commit. I'm by no means "abandoning" any of my previous ideas, like what I proposed in #282, but language design often involves juggling many ideas at once. Let's see how quickly I can get through this list and talk about other stuff later.
Hopefully after a few of these we'll all have a sense of how much effort I can put in here.
Regards.
