Version 5.0.202 of the .NET Core SDK requires at least version 16.8.0 of MSBuild

I am working on macOS Catalina (bigSur crashes too many devices and takes up too much memory for my 16GB RAM setup).

Now, I downloaded latest .net 5 framework because it seems to be needed for Platform Uno. Now, it whines that it needs 16.8 of msbuild (why does it need to be THAT up-to date?)

However, on macOS, I learnt that I should install msbuild via mono framework BUT the latest mono framework only install msbuild 16.6. They have fixed it in master, apparently, but the latest build still does not support it.
