Research direction
Reproduce the contrast problem in vertico with doom-opera-light, using counsel-M-x or another completion command and navigating the selected rows. Then inspect the doom-opera-light theme definition and its selected-row description styling. Done means the description remains clearly readable against the highlighted background while navigating the list.
