Hangs on start when database connection timesout

Hangs on start when database connection times out. While waiting the app doesn't load the main content and it is not clear that is it waiting.

This occurs for example when a port isn't forwarded, I tested with and without to come to this conclusion.

I think the app should indicate the connection can't be reached instead, or allow disable auto connection per connection.
