Description

It appears to me that docker-credentials-gcr can return a registry token.

Am I wrong in thinking that you can only return an identity token and the above documentation is misleading? or can you actually return a registry token?

Research direction

Start by comparing the referenced docker_helper.py implementation with Docker CLI's authconfig.go definition of registry and identity tokens. Determine whether the Store contract can return a registry token, then document the supported behavior or the required API change; the issue provides no repository file or test to run.
