Description
The output of --idfile is a text line but it is missing an end of record (end of line) token. That means many tools will have a hard time parsing it. In particular read in shell scripts will fail to read the input
docker buildx build --iidfile /tmp/iidfile .
read DIGEST < /tmp/iidfile

Research direction
Start by reproducing the supplied docker buildx build --iidfile command and inspect the --iidfile handling in the buildx build entry point. Run the shell read example against the generated file; done means the output ends with a newline and the command reads the digest successfully.
