Description

memory2's recording formats assume every message is self-contained, which stateful codecs violate — an H264 frame is undecodable without its keyframe and the frames before it. The format needs first-class encoder state (codec params per stream, keyframe markers for seeking, and a way for a reader starting mid-stream to reinitialize) or stateful codecs can be written but not reliably read back.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are identified. Start by locating memory2's recording-format reader and writer, then clarify how codec parameters, keyframe markers, and mid-stream reader reinitialization should be represented. Done means stateful codecs can be written and reliably read back, including when reading begins mid-stream.
