Description

Persistent Read I/O Not Released in Dgraph Alpha

Problem

Dgraph Alpha experiences persistent high disk read I/O that never releases, even with only 1.5GB of data. The I/O remains maxed out, causing system unresponsiveness and connection timeouts.

Environment

  • Version: v24.1.5
  • Config: Default settings
  • Data: ~1.5GB

It seems there are no more logs left.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the persistent disk-read I/O on Dgraph Alpha v24.1.5 with default settings and approximately 1.5GB of data, then inspect the available logs and attached measurements. Done means identifying why reads remain maxed out and preventing the resulting unresponsiveness and connection timeouts.
