Description

Rust projects created with dfx include old dependencies for ic-cdk and ic-cdk-macros. There needs to be a mechanism to keep them up to date.

Current work around is using cargo upgrade in the project.

Research direction

Start by examining how dfx generates Rust projects and where the ic-cdk and ic-cdk-macros dependency versions are declared. Compare the generated dependencies with the current versions and the existing cargo upgrade workaround; done means new projects have a defined mechanism for keeping these dependencies up to date.
