Current work around is using cargo upgrade in the project.

Research direction
Start by examining how dfx generates Rust projects and where the ic-cdk and ic-cdk-macros dependency versions are declared. Compare the generated dependencies with the current versions and the existing cargo upgrade workaround; done means new projects have a defined mechanism for keeping these dependencies up to date.
