Initial Notes:
- Is it possible to convert the *.dat files to *.csv? It appears they only need commas?
- Would it be significant additional work to convert the CSV files to FITS? That could potentially reduce the size of the catalogs, and units could be added to the columns.
- Based on an initial sampling, the FITS files in the `mocks/` directory do not
* have column names in ALLCAPS
* have extension names
* include units
