Description
**Type**
Enhancement
**Summary**
The iDRAC Telemetry Service on PowerEdge XE8712 servers with NVIDIA GB200 accelerators currently exposes only a subset of telemetry metrics compared to other supported PowerEdge platforms. This limits observability and prevents customers from leveraging the full telemetry capabilities available through iDRAC.
This enhancement request is to enable support for the complete set of iDRAC telemetry metrics on the XE8712 platform and provide telemetry parity across PowerEdge server platforms.
**Currently Supported Metric Reports**
The following telemetry metric reports are currently supported on PowerEdge XE8712:
PowerMetrics*
PowerStatistics
ThermalMetrics
Sensor Metrics
FanSensor Metrics
DPU/SmartNIC Sensor
NIC Sensor
NIC Statistics
Storage Sensor
NVMe Smart Data
Current PowerMetrics Limitation
The following power-related metrics are not available:
TotalCPUPower
CPUPower
TotalMemoryPower
Problem Statement
Customers deploying PowerEdge XE8712 systems require comprehensive telemetry data for monitoring, power analysis, health reporting, capacity planning, and troubleshooting. The current telemetry implementation exposes only a subset of the metrics available on other platforms, leading to gaps in monitoring solutions that rely on iDRAC Telemetry Service data.
As a result:
Telemetry coverage is not consistent across PowerEdge platforms.
Some monitoring dashboards display incomplete data.
Customers are unable to perform comprehensive power and performance analysis.
Platform-specific exceptions must be documented and handled in telemetry-consuming applications.
Requested Enhancement
Enable support for all telemetry metrics and metric reports available through the iDRAC Telemetry Service on comparable PowerEdge platforms, including currently unsupported metrics such as:
CPUPower
TotalCPUPower
TotalMemoryPower
and any additional telemetry reports that are available on other supported PowerEdge systems but not on XE8712.
The goal is to achieve telemetry feature parity and eliminate platform-specific limitations wherever technically feasible.
**Business Impact**
Improves observability for AI and HPC deployments based on XE8712.
Provides a consistent telemetry experience across PowerEdge platforms.
Simplifies integration with Omnia, Grafana, and other monitoring solutions.
Enables detailed power consumption analysis.
Supports capacity planning and troubleshooting activities.
Reduces customer-reported telemetry gaps and platform-specific exceptions.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the iDRAC Telemetry Service support for PowerEdge XE8712 and comparing its listed metric reports with comparable PowerEdge platforms. Verify the missing CPUPower, TotalCPUPower, and TotalMemoryPower metrics, along with any other report gaps; done means telemetry parity where technically feasible.
